The Zambezi Portland Cement factory has been ruined in such a manner that it has become beyond repairable. The carnage took place within a matter of one and half years after the factory was taken over by the Ventriglia family in April 2015. Since that day, the factory has failed to generate any considerable amount of profit and moreover, the workers of the factory have been victimized, mentally tortured and oppressed by the people in power.
The impact of the above-mentioned actions has resulted in development of several casualties. On one hand, the assets of the factory are continuously being depleted. The trucks are no longer in possession of the factory as Milioto Transport has taken over them along with the premise being given to Astrea Investment. On the other hand, the workers of the factory have been dismissed in groups as the new management thought that they were not required and were acting as an additional burden on the expenses of the factory. Without even thinking once of casualties which the poor workers would face after their termination from the factory, the Ventriglias took this anonymously. Even the labour union was not consulted.
To make things worse, all the transactions under Zambezi Portland Cement has now been stopped. The factory has not registered any flow of income from any of its past transactions. All the receipts are now being accepted in foreign accounts which is directly been channelized into the personal accounts of the Ventriglia family. Meanwhile, the Government of Zambia has failed to realize the importance of this issue and has not taken even a single step towards addressing this issue. The conspirators continue to operate with full liberty and power, whereas the innocent workers and a key contributing factory of the Ndola regions has been pulled down within a matter of a year and half.
