Portland Cement Zambia has seen a dramatic turnaround of events in the past year or so. What really shocks a person is the way in which a prosperous plant has been brought down while the Government silently observed the whole incident from a distance. What about the workers who worked there? What about the economic instability that Ndola has faced due to negligence of the factory? Where will the work force of Ndola will find a new job? Has anybody got the answers?
A bunch of people of Zambia have pledged alliance with the Italian Mafias as they have agreed to take care of their monetary requirement and in return, a Zambian is busy defaming, ridiculing and harassing another innocent Zambian. The whole incident has been indicating towards only one thing- CORRUPTION! How long will the natives be buried under the tyrant rule of few riches? Has the Government of Zambia lost its capability to control affairs in an unbiased manner? Why is that we see that the Government has refused to intervene in this matter and preferred to watch the whole massacre from a distance.
There are thousands of families in Zambia who have faced hardships from the steps taken by the Ventriglia family within the premise of Portland Cement Zambia. Once again, the problem of unemployment has started to haunt the locals. Maria, wife of a former workers at Portland Cement Zambia comments, “We were a happy family earlier, but now financial problems have started to show its impact in our daily life. My husband has become jobless and is desperately looking for work, but lack of employment opportunities in Ndola forces him to work for more hours and accept a wage which is lower than his previous. Our future still remains in the dark.”
The statement clearly indicates the level of hardship that the people of Ndola are currently facing.
