Zambia has always remained as a hard working nation. However, there are certain people who prefer to use the channels of corruption and illegal activities with a view to fulfil their thirst for money. The arrest of the former Finance Bank Chairman, Dr. Rajan Mahtani was nothing less than a planned conspiracy where the corrupt Government officials and the Ventriglia family played a partnership to put Dr. Mahtani out of the equation.
The Ventriglia family is well-known for its corrupt activities and poor behaviour towards its employees. In 2012, they were deported from Africa on account being ‘a threat to the prevailing harmony’ in the nation. Ever since, the deportation has been lifted, they have made a ‘Mafia Style’ comeback in Africa and have started to operate with greater harshness. They took over the possession of the Zambezi Portland Cement Factory through hiring bandits and are still mistreating the employees and refusing their salaries.
As long as Dr. Mahtani is present, the actions of the Ventriglias were being constantly challenged and hence, they found it feasible to put Dr. Rajan Mahtani behind the bars. President Edgar Lungu, who has just remained as a puppet in the hands of Rupiah Banda, did nothing to protect the interest of the hundreds who are still suffering in the hands of the Ventriglias.
