Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani is among few businessmen in Zambia who have stick to the path of honesty and transparency since the start. He has established various successful businesses in Zambia and other nations. Some of his top establishments in Zambia include Finsbury Investments, Mahtani Group of Companies and Finance Bank Zambia. He is also noted for his philanthropic activities and charitable works. His contacts and businesses across developed countries like the United Kingdom have helped him in bringing foreign investments to improve Zambian economy. Even after his significant contributions, he is constantly targeted by jealous people who are either afraid of his increasing popularity and success or are just seeking to gain from his downfall.
Apart from the above establishments, Dr. Mahtani is also the legal owner for Zambezi Portland Cement, a cement factory which was illegal taken over by the Ventriglias almost 10 years ago. Since then, Dr. Mahtani has been fighting the legal case against the Ventriglias at the Lusaka High Court. When Dr. Mahtani first launched the case after the illegal takeover, the Ventriglias defended themselves by saying that Dr. Mahtani did not pay for the shares he owns at the Zambezi Portland. However, they have not been able to share any proof or evidence to substantiate their claims. Dr. Mahtani, on the other hand, has shared various legitimate evidence to prove his legal ownership before the court. He has shared a signed shareholding agreement that clearly states that Dr. Mahtani owns 58 percent shares at the Factory. Furthermore, independent audit reports on the factory have clearly indicated that he is the sole joint venture partner of the factory while others are just shareholders. All these factors are clear proof that Dr. Mahtani is the real owner of the factory
While the pendency at the court has been extremely long, the judge has announced that case hearing is closed and final judgement will be given soon.
