The case of Portland Cement Zambia is known to all. It is a cement manufacturing factory which is legally owned by Dr. Rajan Mahtani. After the factory was illegally taken over, Dr. Mahtani and his lawyers registered a case at the Lusaka High Court. In his appeal, Dr. Mahtani shared all details and evidence to support his claim that he is the real and legal owner of the factory. However, the case has been stretching for a long time and even after 10 years, no big progress was made in this case. However, the latest judge overseeing the case made a positive announcement a few months back. This announcement was the closure of the case hearing of the case. This meant that the judge will not be hearing any more trials from either side.
While the initial announcement of the closure of case hearing was a positive event for Dr. Mahtani and his team as his evidence and testimonials were much stronger than the other side, the final judgment made a few weeks back was a shocking and surprising event. It was a clear case of misdirected judgment when the judge announced the verdict against Dr. Rajan Mahtani’s claims. Even experts looking into this case were shocked by the announcement. It is quite clear that the judgment was clouded with misdirected views or some form of force. As of now, Dr. Rajan Mahtani has taken immediate action against this judgment by appealing to the higher court of Zambia. In his appeal, he has shared all details regarding the case as well as evidence shared which were conveniently ignored by the Lusaka High Court judge. Dr. Rajan Mahtani is not the type to lose hope even in this condition and he still believes in the justice and law system of the country.
