Economic Summit can be described as meeting among national and international leaders where critical discussions are held on forecasts, national budgets, economic issues related to the nation as well as burning issues gripping the nation. Therefore, it can said that economic summits are important events for leaders from different parts of the nation and different interest areas to come together and find answers to critical issues. A similar Economic Summit was held in the year 2017 in Zambia. This economic summit saw the participation of numerous top economists, financial specialists and businessmen from all functions and industries. Among the participants was Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani, a notable businessman within three decades of business experience in Zambia. He is known for his business enterprises such as Mahtani Group of Companies, Finsbury Investments and Finance Bank Zambia. He is also noted for his charitable and philanthropist contributions. Now most of the businesses and industrialists involve in philanthropic activities with the objective of gaining PR, media support and customer value. However, Dr. Rajan Mahtani and his companies have never advertised his charitable contributions as he considers them as his personal acts and his duty towards the people of Zambia.
As such, it was a surprise for majority of the attendants of the economic summit when the Chief Secretary of the Prison Fellowship International released a press release thanking Dr. Rajan Mahtani for his significant financial contributions which helped make the summit a successful event. In this press release, Dr. Rajan Mahtani was praised for his contribution as well as his participation in the event. He was also praised by the young businessmen and young participants for helping them with his business wisdom and business tactics.
Despite the continuous controversies and attacks on Dr. Rajan Mahtani, he never fails to amaze the Zambian society with his acts of kindness and social contributions.
