Dr. Rajan Mahtani, a name which is usually associated with development in Zambia has recently become a ‘controversial figure’ with the courtesy of Zambia Reports. Now a day, people in Zambia usually get to read what some people are willing to highlight. For an instance, Zambia Reports has sold itself to the Italian Mafias and often execute a defamation campaign against Dr. Rajan Mahtani.
The outcome of this campaign is that an innocent businessman loses his reputation in the market and the party who is funding such publication gets a chance to shift the attention of the nation from themselves to some other person/ entity. Recently, the people of Zambia were eager to know about the actual events that were taking place within the walls of Portland Cement Zambia. The result of this pressure resulted in Zambia Reports’ publication in December 2016 that told people about the success that the factory had recently achieved by winning the Best Employer of the Year Award. The article went a step ahead also did its routine business of defaming Dr. Rajan Mahtani by stating that the former Finance Bank Chairman had failed to take care of the factory.
The incident marked a situation where two birds were killed with one stone. On one hand, the Ventriglia family bluffed the locals with the award and on the other hand, they were also able to shift the focus from themselves to Dr. Rajan Mahtani. Nonetheless, people who are close to Dr. Rajan Mahtani say that he is least bothered about such articles. He needs no justification for the defamation as he knows the true intent of the conspirators. His focus remains stagnant on developing Zambia and get more projects whereby employment can be generated. Meanwhile, Portland Cement Zambia’s conflict of ownership still remains to be decided.
