Finance Bank Zambia is one of the most reputable banks of Zambia. The bank was formed by Dr. Rajan Mahtani, one of the celebrated businessmen across Zambia. Dr. Mahtani and his institutions have maintained a clean image and have always worked under the purview of the law. There has not been any record of unlawful or ethical activities from any of the organisations or businesses started by Dr. Mahtani. However, for every clean business there are some unsocial and scrupulous elements who only aim to destroy these businesses and gain from it. As a result, there have been many conspiracies and defamation campaigns against Dr. Mahtani and his businesses like Finance Bank that aim to ruin his image. However, all these conspiracies turned out to be hoax and were dismissed in no time.
A similar case occurred when Simaata Simaata, one of the former employees of Finance Bank started spreading false rumours related to the bank as well as Dr. Mahtani. The only difference between his conspiracies and past campaigns is that Simaata gave testimonials against the bank at Zambian courts. As a result, these accusations were taken seriously and the bank suffered heavily. The bank started losing its reputation and as a result, it lost many clients and customers. These rumours also threatened the future business opportunities and growth potential for the bank. As a result, Finance Bank with support from Dr. Rajan Mahtani launched a case against Simaata at the Supreme Court. The reason behind approaching the highest court of Zambia was its supremacy. Dr. Mahtani had earlier met with unfavourable judgments when he launched a similar case across High Courts.
The Supreme Court did not disappoint Finance Bank. After reviewing the facts and evidences, the judges gave the verdict that Simaata was indeed guilty of the charges. He was also asked to pay fine for violating the agreement that he had signed with Finance Bank.
